PANS Announces New Scholarships

The Polish American Numismatic Society (PANS, established in 1981 in East Detroit, Michigan) will award two Michigan Student Scholarships, at $500 each to American Polish or Polish born High School Senior Students or First Year Community College Students or First Year Vocational School Students in Michigan that are planning to attend or continue attending a University, College or Vocational School of their choice anywhere in the USA in 2024. PANS Scholarships are open to one student scholarship per family per year. Past winners are not eligible.

The first $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student living in Michigan of American Polish Ethnic decent or Polish born who belongs to the Polish American Numismatic Society or who’s parents, grandparents or great-grandparents belonged to a Polish Coin Club in Michigan and who contributed in enlightening the Public about Polish History and Culture through promoting Polish Numismatics in Michigan and the USA.

The second $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student living in Michigan of American Polish Ethnic decent or Polish born who belongs to or who’s parents, grandparents or great-grandparents belonged to a Polish Cultural Club in Michigan, or the Polish American Congress of Michigan, or any other American Polish Clubs of Michigan that are or were instrumental in promoting Polish Culture and History through Polish Art, Polish Music, Polish Sports Leagues, Coins, Medals, other Polish Cultural and Historical Items or who’s parents, grandparents or great-grandparents taught the Polish Language, History and Culture in a formal academic setting in Michigan.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Please write a short 600 word biographical essay about yourself and your goals for your future.

Additionally, please include responses to the following three questions in your biography:

1.) Why do you think it’s important to collect Polish Coins, Medals or related Polish Numismatic Items? 

2.) Who was instrumental in getting you started in collecting Polish Coins, Medals or related Polish Numismatic Items? 

3.) Why are you interested in Polish Culture, History and Numismatics?

The 2024 Polish American Numismatic Society $500.00 Scholarship Award Check is made out to the University, College or other Vocational School chosen by the Award Winner. The Scholarship is awarded to two students ($500 each) decided and chosen by the PANS Judging Panel. Completed essay must be emailed before May 31, 2024 to: [email protected]

Scholarship Winner will be notified via email by PANS Society President Lester J. Rosik by June 25, 2024.

POLISH AMERICAN NUMISMATIC SOCIETY HISTORY:

PANS is a non-profit educational numismatic society that was established in 1981 in East Detroit, Michigan by seven American and Polish colleagues.

Mr. Lucian Chojecki, a Polish Immigrant was the First President of PANS from 1981 to 1995.

Mr. Lester J. Rosik, the current PANS Society President has guided the club since 1996.

Today we have 40 American-Polish, American and Canadian Members throughout Michigan, the USA and Canada.

The Polish American Numismatic Society sponsors two of the biggest one day coin shows in Michigan, the Mid-West USA and Ontario, Canada. 

The PANS International Coin Show takes place on the Third Sunday in February at the American Polish Cultural Center (APCC) in Troy, Michigan. PANS co-hosts this major event with the Windsor Coin Club of Ontario, Canada (WindsorCoinClub.com).

The PANS Regional Coin Show occurs in August on the Sunday one week before Labor Day at the Macomb College Sports and Expo Center in Warren, Michigan co-hosted with Huron Valley Numismatic Society (HVNS.org).

The Polish American Numismatic Society focuses on education and preservation of Polish History and Culture through Polish Coins, Medals, Paper Money, Books on Polish Numismatics, Polish Bonds, and other related Polish Numismatic Items in Michigan, America and Canada.
